BACKGROUND
Crohn’s Disease (CD) is partly caused by a highly pro-inflammatory lesion microenvironment which subsequently causes numerous clinical complications. Northwestern University scientists have developed a method to control this inflammation with the use of neonatal Mesenchymal Stem Cells (nMSCs). This technology utilizes the anti-inflammatory and regenerative characteristics of nMSCs and directly injects them into developing small intestine inflammatory lesions which has shown the ability to positively modulate the inflammatory microenvironment.
