Computer Aided Immunohistochemistry (COMPAI) for Rapid Analysis of Diagnostic Biopsy.
Problem:
Immunohistochemical (IHC) analysis is a slow process that involves manual segmentation and scoring of multiple images. Multiplied across thousands of images per study, this process is often the bottleneck for achieving faster biomarker research and diagnosis. Currently, there is no automated scoring process that would allow fast, accurate, and most importantly, consistent evaluation of IHC images. The automated system would introduce standardized quantification while decreasing prolonged analysis time and inconsistencies in human interpretations.
Solution:
Dr. Guvakova has developed COMPAI software optimized for immunohistochemistry analysis that achieves better than industry leading segmentation and scoring of IHC images. Moreover, the COMPAI software achieves a near industry level of speed increase (over 60% reduction in quantification time compared to manual image processing). These improvements are the result of optimized standard segmentation algorithms and the introduction of a novel quantitative scoring system that offers more information than the systems used in the industry today.
