A method and apparatus to secure fingerprint templates by using innovative hash functions.
This invention discusses and discloses a unique method of protecting fingerprint biometric data. The method uses algorithms to determine a set of specialized points on a fingerprint, and then uses the pattern to hash (encrypt) the fingerprint recognition information. This invention is unique in that it overcomes drawbacks of other recognition methods by using a series of algorithms based on linear and rotational geometry that conclusively determines a pattern on a fingerprint. This is unlike current recognition methods, which use fingerprint lines, or those that are unable to take into account minute variations in fingerprint imprints. This invention is suitable for security industries, and any company involved in biometric security systems.
