Short Description

Protein expression vectors for all three human nuclear lamin proteins

Abstract

Northwestern scientists have developed protein expression vectors for recombinant production of nuclear lamins in Escherichia coli. There are at least 3 lamin proteins in human cells and together they accomplish several functions important for nuclear integrity, nuclear import and DNA replication. Because of these important functions, lamins have been extensively studied. These overexpression plasmids will facilitate research of lamins and enable generation of other research reagents as well.

Applications

  • Research tool for study of nuclear lamin proteins
  • Production of nuclear lamins

Advantages

  • Simple
  • Efficient
