This invention involves using magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) to identify lipid-laden foam cells to diagnose a chronic stroke injury. This technology is specifically meant for monitoring patients post-stroke brain injury. This largely relates to improving management patient care and advancing stroke therapeutics. Background: Currently, MRS is a technology that is rarely applied to the diagnosis of chronic stroke injury. Additionally, current standards of care focus on an acute-phase assessment, rather than looking at the brain’s condition during the chronic phase and recovery.
