Two-Pumps-Based Entanglement Generation Source Enabling Entanglement-Assisted Communication over Turbulent Free-Space Optical (FSO) Channels

This technology improves Quantum Entangled Free Space Optical Communication by employing two laser pumps and modulating on the signal photons, while employing the idler photons as the reference signal. The use of two pumps gives the flexibility of generating the signal photons at arbitrary wavelength in C- and L-bands, which is not possible with the single pump configuration. This configuration allows for highspeed communication over longer distances than previous versions of the technology.  The proposed entanglement-assisted communication system at 1 Gb/s and beyond, employing the entanglement generation source with two pumps and performing the phase-conjugation on idler photons, is operational in beyond strong turbulence regime.

Background: 
Typically, optical phase conjugation is performed using signaling photons, which tend to be severely affected by free-space optical channel impairments, such as turbulence and scattering effects. This new technology focuses on using bright idler photons instead, increasing the process efficiency as well as decreasing data loss from photon absorption.
