Suppressing Alignment in OFDM-Based Systems

Competitive Advantages

  •     Significant reduction in peak-to-average power ratio
  •     Reduction in out-of-band interference

Summary

USF inventors have addressed the drawbacks by generating a sup-pressing signal at the OFDM transmitter that jointly reduces the OOB interference and the PAPR. The suppressing signal is properly designed so that it is aligned with the redundant duration provided by the cyclic prefix (CP) after passing through the wireless channel. Therefore, the data portion of the OFDM signal is not affected by the suppressing signal leading to an interference-free transmission. Furthermore, the developed approach does not reduce the trans-mission data rate and achieves significant reduction in both PAPR and OOB.
