This invention describes a novel side-strapped derivative of phthalocyanine for use in photovoltaic cells to generate a current in a more efficient manner.
Background: Within the context of photovoltaic solar power, there are other compounds based on the phthalocyanine structure that are in use currently. These other compounds have an energy conversion of 11% at their highest. The variations of the core molecule come chiefly from the different metals places in the complex onto it, including: copper, aluminum, and palladium.
