Portable Account of Student Skills (PASS)

Reference #: 1746

The University of South Carolina is offering licensing opportunities for Portable Account of Student Skills (PASS).

Background:

Currently, there is a gap between nursing students and the readiness standard required for practice. Tools for properly evaluating the performance of nursing students in order to project adequate performance in practice are limited.

Invention Description:

This invention is the PASS evaluation tool. The PASS digital longitudinal scorecard can be used for tracking nursing skills-based competencies throughout their courses at the College of Nursing (CON). PASS will provide real-time access to individual competency achievement for students, faculty, and clinical instructors. This acts as a direct evaluation tool for nursing students looking to make the jump into practice, and allows medical facilities to accurately assess who is most ready for practice from the pool of nursing student applicants.

Potential Applications:

This tool can be applied in nursing schools in order to evaluate student performance with the goal of projecting future performance in practice.

Advantages and Benefits:

There is no comparable evaluation tool currently on the market. This is the only tool of its kind.
