Novel P450-overexpressing cell lines

Unmet Need: Current market do not have P450-overexpressing cell lines

Cytochromes are the major enzymes involved in drug metabolism, accounting for about 75% of the total metabolism. Most drugs undergo deactivation by Cytochromes P450 (CYPs), either directly or by facilitated excretion from the body. CYPs is a superfamily of are highly polymorphic enzymes, which participate in a lot of bio reaction in human body. For example, exemestane(EXE) is a third-generation steroidal aromatase inhibitor used in the treatment and prevention of breast cancer in postmenopausal women. Although several studies have examined EXE metabolic pathways, little is known about its phase I metabolites. Studies describing the impact of variant CYP450s on EXE metabolism are also absent from the literature. Methods for massive produce CYPs is rare.

The Technology: Invented a cytochrome P450-overexpressing cell lines

Researchers at WSU have developed a Cytochrome P450-overexpressing cell lines which is good for metabolites study and drug screening, cytochrome P450 has never been efficiently produced before. This technology created Cytochrome P450-overexpressing HEK293 cell lines, it could be employed for investigating active metabolites for drug study and screening.
