This is a proposed method to enable consciousness in quantum computers using theories from neurology, philosophy, physics and psychology. There is a correlation and correspondence between quantum computing and quantum consciousness. The relationship between the Orch-OR theory of consciousness and Quantum Natural Language Processing (QNLP) can be used in combination with quantum circuits mimicking microtubules to understand consciousness through human language acquisition. This is based upon a paper delivered at the Science of Consciousness conference and the technology is not reduced to practice. Background: Consciousness involves not just processing information but experiencing it, and there is currently no consensus on how to measure or even define consciousness in machines. This complexity arises from the difficulty in understanding consciousness in humans, let alone replicating it in an artificial system. One method, proposed by Alan Turing, is to administer the aptly titled Turing Test to determine the level of consciousness in artificially intelligent machines enabling us to use those findings as a comparative place holder to understand human cognition. This invention expands on the Orch-OR Theory and QNLP as another method in understanding human cognition. Applications:
