FAWTH2002

This hybrid is from the first generation of FAW-tolerant maize hybrids out of CIMMYT's eastern Africa product pipeline 1A (EA-PP1A). This pipeline primarily focuses on developing intermediate maturing, white grain, high-yielding maize hybrids that are drought tolerant, NUE, resistant to GLS, TLB, ear rots, and MSV, and are suitable for food use in tropical rainfed dry/wet mid-altitude areas in eastern Africa.   General Information   Adaptation/Agroecological zone 1000 - 1600 masl   Type of product Three-way cross hybrid   Year first anounced 2020         Grain Characteristics   Grain color White   Grain texture Semi dent             Biotic Stress Performance Grain Yield   Turcicum leaf blight (TLB) (1-9) 5.5 Grain yield under optimum conditions 7.2 t/ha   Grey leaf spot (GLS) (1-9) 5.9 Grain yield on-farm 5.9 t/ha   FAW foliar damage (art. inf.; no-choice trial) (1-9) 7.2 Grain yield under drought stress 1.6 t/ha   FAW foliar damage (very low nat. inf.)
