Current wireless network topologies encounter significant challenges such as latency, high energy consumption, and limited ability to recover from multiple simultaneous link or node failures. Traditional methods like Diversity Coding (DC) and Network Coding (NC) have made progress in addressing these issues but still fall short in providing near-instantaneous recovery and reduced redundancy, creating a need for more efficient and reliable solutions.
The Enhanced Diversity and Network Coding (EDC-NC) system addresses these issues by combining the strengths of DC and NC. It ensures near-instantaneous recovery from multiple failures, significantly reduces energy consumption, and enhances throughput. This system is versatile and applicable to various network technologies, including 5G and IoT, and improves reliability and efficiency while lowering operational costs, making it a pivotal advancement in modern network technology.
Example EDC-NC coding in a WSN (Wireless Sensor Network): Solid lines indicate links improving throughput with coded packets, while dashed lines show links enhancing reliability with coded packets, in line with the present invention.
