This technology utilizes electrochemical cells to flow ionizing currents through aqueous solutions containing dissolved salts, enabling charged ions to traverse viral interiors and cancer cells. By preferentially damaging the DNA and RNA inside viruses while preserving their protein coats, high-quality vaccines are produced. Similarly, electrodes applied directly to tumors deliver currents that selectively destroy cancerous cells by exploiting the higher conductivity of their interiors compared to surrounding membranes.
