Container Bulge Test

Measuring Container Bulge

Need:

Packaging safety is often overlooked, but pallet packaging is a huge part of retail business today. Products are packed in boxes, often composed of cardboard, and stacked on wooden pallets to be transported between facilities. Container bulge poses a threat to this streamline process because the deformation reduces the structural integrity of the package and its ability to protect its contents. Additionally, bulging containers affect pallet configurations and result in less efficient arrangements. Consequently, there is a need to determine the container bulge and currently there are no widely accepted solutions.

Solution:

The present invention measures container bulge across three axes to ensure package safety. This apparatus measures bulge with a series of pressure sensors surrounding a given container. The sensors are integrated along panels which are placed along the container. The extensible frame of the device connects all the panels and measures bulge through detected pressure. The apparatus can measure bulge across two or three dimensions. Resulting data can be used towards structural integrity studies and pallet configuration efficiency.
