CIM24SAPP1-L-03

CIM24SAPP1-L-03 is a high-yielding, late-maturing maize hybrid with white grain, that is drought tolerant, NUE, and resistant to GLS, TLB, ear rots, and MSV. It is suitable for cultivation for food use in tropical, rainfed, dry/wet mid-altitude and transition ecologies in southern Africa and similar agroecologies.    General Information   Target region Southern Africa   Adaptation/Agroecological zone 400-1800 masl   Type of product Three-way cross hybrid   Year first announced 2025         Why farmers say they like it*   Good yield, Good stand       Grain Yield   *Common keywords from farmer feedback (CIMMYT Southern Africa 2024/25 Stage 5 Trials) Grain yield under optimum conditions 10.59 t/ha   Grain yield under managed drought 3.55 t/ha       Grain yield under low nitrogen 1.96 t/ha   Grain Characteristics Grain Yield on-farm (moderate stress) 5.61 t/ha   Grain color White Grain Yield on-farm (severe stress) 2.0 t/ha   Grain texture Semi-flint           Agronomic Characteristics     Biotic Stress Performance Maturity group Late   Turcicum leaf blight (TLB) (1-9)* 4.3 50% anthesis 69 DAP   Grey leaf spot (GLS) (1-9)* 3.7 916 GDD   Maize Streak Virus (MSV) (1-9)* 3.7 Anthesis-silking interval 0.84 days   Ear rots 9.3% Plant height 236.2 cm   *Diseases are scored on a 1-9 scale, where 1 = Highly resistant; 5 = Tolerant; 9 = Highly susceptible.
