CIM22SAPP1-15

CIM22SAPP1-15 is a high-yielding, intermediate-maturing maize hybrid with white grain, that is drought tolerant, NUE, and resistant to GLS, TLB, ear rots, and MSV. It is suitable for cultivation for food use in tropical, rainfed, dry/wet mid-altitude and transition ecologies in southern Africa and similar agroecologies. It has demonstrated remarkable performance for GLS resistance and has good nicking.    General Information   Target region Southern Africa   Adaptation/Agroecological zone 400-1800 masl   Type of product Three-way cross hybrid   Year first announced 2023         Why farmers say they like it*   High yield, Vigor, Big/long Cobs       Grain Yield   *Common keywords from farmer feedback (2023 CIMMYT Southern Africa Maize Regional On-Farm Trials) Grain yield under optimum conditions 9.871 t/ha   Grain yield under managed drought 2.644 t/ha       Grain yield under low N stress 2.451 t/ha   Grain Characteristics Grain Yield on-farm (moderate stress) 6.48  t/ha   Grain color White Grain Yield on-farm (severe stress) 1.99  t/ha   Grain texture Semi-dent           Agronomic Characteristics   Biotic Stress Performance Maturity group Intermediate   Turcicum leaf blight (TLB) (1-9)* 3.9 50% anthesis 71 DAP   Grey leaf spot (GLS) (1-9)* 3.2 931 GDD (°C)   Maize Streak Virus (MSV) (1-9)* 3.5 Anthesis-silking interval 1.23 Days   Rust (1-9)* 4.1 Plant height 236.3 cm   Ear rots 11.8% Ear height 120.3 cm   *Diseases are scored on a 1-9 scale, where 1 = Highly resistant; 5 = Tolerant; 9 = Highly susceptible.
