ABSTRACT

We present an invention that extracts, verifies, and utilizes web-based data to pinpoint an Internet host's location. The method processes delay measurements while opportunistically boosting accuracy with supplemental online information. Tests in academic and residential settings yielded median error distances of 690 meters and 2 km respectively, outperforming previous approaches.
