UTHealth pioneering researchers Dr. Yanning Rui, Dr. Zhen Xu, and Dr. Louise McCullough created the first novel reporter platform to monitor FA-phagy activity via Western blot or confocal microscopy for both live and fixed cell imaging. FA-phagy is associated with many diseases such as Huntington’s Disease (HD), Alzheimer's Disease (AD), Autosomal Recessive Polycystic Kidney Disease (ARPKD) etc. This novel reporter platform is an effective assay to monitor FA-phagy mechanisms and unveil its roles in diseases.
