Executive Summary
The “oldest old” is a term used to describe people 85 years of age and older. This group is the fastest-growing age cohort in the world, and their lives span a century of history. In this documentary, award-winning director Geri Alumit Zeldes and her team at MSU have captured the individual histories of Michigan’s oldest old. ‘The Living History Project’ captures ethnographic interviews of these Michigan residents to provide a unique window into the state’s cultural history and aims to understand older adults’ thoughts on their own longevity, resilience, and quality of life.
