Software for Computing Zernike Characterization of an Optical Wave Front: TsunamiWave

Brief Description:

The software is used for the full characterization of an optical beam, by the computation of Zernike polynomials from wavefront sensor data.

Applications:

For use in adaptive optics systems, such as scanning laser ophthalmoscopes, optical coherence tomography and astronomy.

Advantages:

The software provides a full characterization of the optical beam and is built to integrate with software used to control devices used in adaptive optics, such as wavefront sensors (Shack-Hartmann or other) with a digital camera, wavefront correctors (such as Boston Micromachines deformable mirror, or ImagineEyes deformable mirror), laser controllers (such as Thorlabs ITC-502 or other) and power meters (such as Newport 1930 or other).

Technology Status:

Software is being used by research teams in vision science.  Special arrangements are provided to research institutions which are members of the NSF-funded Center for Adaptive Optics.  The software can be used with TsunamiSLO (1-11030-08036), which is software to control the devices used in adaptive optics.
