3D Model Classification, Matching and Search

PAGE TITLE

Overview

PAGE SUMMARY With the emergence of 3D printing and a variety of new 3D model warehouse platforms a growing need has emerged for algorithms capable of improving systems that warehouse 3D CAD/CAM parts.  A team of Drexel Researcher’s, lead by Dr. William Regli, have developed a patented suite of algorithms that advance the state of the art in 3D model search and classification.  By employing kNN pattern recognition and shape modeling techniques they are able to automate CAD/CAM part classification for arbitrary classification schemes.  In addition, they have developed improved feature extraction techniques that can be used for indexing, matching and searching solid models.  They have further developed improved algorithms for determining similarity of two solid models by testing for sub-graph isomorphism.  Drexel University is seeking partners interested in the further development of these technologies and commercialization of our portfolio of 3D model algorithms.
