CIM24EAHW-05

CIM24EAHW-05 is a late-maturing, high-yielding, white maize hybrid, with resistance to GLS, TLB, rust, and ear rots, bred for target agroecologies of the highlands of eastern Africa. It is notable for lodging resistance and uniformity.   General Information   Target region Eastern Africa   Adaptation/Agroecological zone 1800-2400 masl   Type of product Three-way cross   Year first announced 2026             Why farmers say they like it* Grain Yield   High yielder, Lodging resistance, Uniformity Grain yield (opt.) 9.9 t/ha   Grain yield (on-farm, mod. stress) 8.6 t/ha   *Common keywords from farmer feedback during 2025 regional on-farm trials (CIM-EAHW25A-ROFT) Grain yield (on-farm, severe stress) 6.9 t/ha   Grain yield under low N stress 4.5 t/ha             Kernel Characteristics Agronomic Characteristics   Kernel color White Maturity group Late   Kernel texture Semi-dent 50% anthesis 87 days       (789.1 GDD)   Biotic Stress Performance Anthesis-silking interval  2.5 days   Grey leaf spot (GLS) (AI) (1-9)* 4.1 Ear height  142.4cm   Turcicum leaf blight (TLB) (AI) (1-9)* 4.5 Plant height  250.2cm   Rust (nat.)
